Rodgers edges Brady for top 2018 MVP odds

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers opened as a 13-2 favorite to be named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player in 2018 in Bovada’s initial odds released Tuesday, narrowly ahead of Tom Brady.The New England Patriots’ signal-caller, who claimed his third MVP award in 2017, is second at 7-1. Rodgers has claimed the honor twice before, most recently in 2014.Brady, 40, was revealed as the top player in the NFL Top 100 on Monday night, his second year in a row taking that spot. Rodgers, who missed nine games last season due to a broken collarbone, ranked 10th in the Top 100.Carson Wentz, who many expected to win the award last year before he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in Week 14, has the third-best odds at 19-2. Drew Brees and Russell Wilson round out the top five at 15-1, with Jimmy Garoppolo among a group of four with the sixth-best odds at 20-1.Each of the top 17 odds belong to quarterbacks, with a trio of running backs — Le’Veon Bell, Todd Gurley and David Johnson — tied for 18th at 40-1.
